We were the first company in Moshi to put guests on motorbikes in the remote parts of Tanzania. Dirt tracks through wildlife management areas, mountain passes and Maasai land, with a 4×4 carrying the kit and a mechanic riding with you.
A 4×4 travels with the group carrying luggage, camping equipment, fuel and its own driver, so you ride with what you need for the day and nothing else. A technician travels with us too and checks every bike at the end of each leg — the bikes are chosen for exactly this reason: minimal technology, proven in bad conditions.
On the camping nights our bush chefs are already at camp when you arrive, which after a long day on the trail is the part people remember.
Air-cooled and mechanically simple, and famously hard to break. Minimal technology is the point — there is less to go wrong a long way from a workshop, and what does go wrong can usually be fixed at the roadside.
Lighter and easier underfoot for riders who want less bike beneath them. The same reasoning applies: proven in bad conditions, straightforward to service, and comfortable enough for long days on dirt.
Most trips are built around West Kilimanjaro and then extended. Routes can be combined, and any of them can be run as fly camping, as lodges, or as a mix of both.
On most of our itineraries. Dusty plains under the mountain, off the beaten track into Maasai country, with giraffe and zebra crossing in front of you. The best place on the route to photograph Kilimanjaro and Meru together.
The hardest riding and the most rewarding: winding roads through rainforest, past villages, along ridges with the plains a long way below.
The floor of the rift valley at 600 m, and probably the most alkaline water on earth. The most theatrical landscape in Tanzania, and worth the ride in on its own.
After a few days of roughing it, the coast. Space, salt water, and nothing much to do beyond what is already in front of you.

Mid-height adventure boots with ankle protection, oil-resistant soles, and waterproofing. They wade through rivers, trudge through mud, and kick up dust with equal confidence.
The routes run through wildlife management areas instead, which is where the riding is anyway — but if your reason for coming is the Serengeti crater floor, that is a vehicle safari, not this.
Helmet, jacket, goggles and boots are included and fitted before you ride. You are welcome to bring your own kit if you would rather use it.
We take beginners and give training and safety instruction before you set off, and the group rides at a sensible pace.
This needs a level of fitness and skill, and we would rather talk through your riding experience before you book than find out on day two.
November to May is greener and quieter; mid-November to mid-December and mid-March to mid-May the trails get genuinely muddy and difficult in remote areas.
A motorbike trip normally includes the bike and its fuel, the 4×4 backup with its fuel and driver, the mechanic, accommodation whether camping or lodges, meals, and park and area fees. The $1,500–$5,000 range is indicative and depends on the length of the trip, the route and whether you sleep under canvas or under a roof — it is not a from-price, and we will not pretend it is one until we know your itinerary.
