01 — The trip

Planned unhurried.

Located 70 km west of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru offers valuable acclimatization before a Kilimanjaro attempt, with stunning scenery despite its lower summit. Mount Meru’s moods vary, from winter snow on the summit to sunny weather for most of the year. The Crater wall ruptured 250,000 years ago, impacting the surroundings. Vegetation zones range from lush evergreen forest at 1800m to an alpine desert at 3400m. Along the way, you may encounter wildlife, with the sound of the wind and white-necked ravens in the high desert. Day 1: Arrival
