Mega Adventures is an adventure travel company based in Moshi, the town in the shadow of Kilimanjaro. It was started by two adventurers who wanted to run the trips they wished existed, and the team behind it now carries over 25 years of combined experience in Tanzanian tourism.
Most companies selling Tanzanian safaris are booking someone else’s. We are the company on the ground: the 4×4s are ours, the guides and crew are on our payroll, and the camping equipment comes out of our own store. That is why booking direct is cheaper here than booking the same trip through an intermediary — there is no intermediary.
It also means that when something changes mid-trip, the person fixing it works for us.
We were the first company in Moshi — and among very few in Tanzania — to run safaris on motorbikes, into parts of the country a safari vehicle cannot reach. We also believe we were the first to outfit climbers attempting Kilimanjaro without porters, by supplying everything such a climb needs.
Neither is a marketing line. Both came from wanting to go somewhere the standard itinerary does not.
The Love and Hope Foundation is a home in Moshi for orphaned and vulnerable children, built around shelter and care, education and vocational training, and health and well-being.
We donate meals every month, and run creative and vocational workshops there — craft-making, painting, design. Guests who want to visit, volunteer or donate can, and we will arrange it; nobody is asked to.
Our guides are the part of this company guests remember, and reviewers ask for them by name. Philip looks after our German-speaking guests as Director of Business Development, and there are German- and Scandinavian-speaking staff in the office if you would rather not plan your trip in English.
